These two images are taken from the Ebenezer Evangelical United Brethern Church 1952 Centennial book. The first image is Carl Grantman. By the way, I believe this image is taken from the portrait in the previous blog post. The second is a page from the back of the book with a memorial for Carl and Mary. Almost all of the other memorials on the page are decendents.

Carl and Mary Grantman Picture
Here is a picture of Carl and Mary Grantman. This is a photo of the original portrait so the resolution is not great. I hope someone will come to the reunion and bring an original! Mary (Marie) died in 1889, so this portrait is older than that. Carl died in 1916. He outlived his two oldest children, Charles and Mary.
Mary Grantman died on 27 April 1889 of "abdominal inflammation after a 3 day illness." She was born 25 May 1828, so she was 60 years old. Carl Grantman died 16 August 1916 after an "illness of three months." He was born on 25 Dec 1825, so he was 90 years old. The newspaper article says the funeral was held from the home of William Grantman and then from Salem Evangelical Church. Burial took place at Ebenezer cemetery at Elwood Corners. Carl Grantman was one of the charter members of Ebenezer church. I'll do another post on that.
Presiding at his funeral were, Rev G W Reichert of Lomira, L F Kiehoefer of Fond du Lac, presiding elder of the Eau Claire district, Rev F W Huebner, and Rev Herman Prochnow of Milwaukee. Rev Prochnow was married to Carl Grantman's granddaughter, Anna Waege. The pallbearers were Henry Jr, John and Fred Grandman and Seymour Luedtke.
Below is a really crappy photo of a photo of Carl Grantman's obituary in the German language paper. It is readable. Notice the spelling. Grantmann. You can easily pick out the names of the children and Salem and Ebenezer churches and that he has 40 grand children and 30 great grandchildren.
